GCSE Functional Skills – Gothic
About the work
GCSE and Functional Skills students have been exploring various aspects of creative writing. One of the themes studied was the Gothic genre.
Students identified key characteristics of the gothic genre in both historical and contemporary texts. For example: pathetic fallacy, settings, the supernatural, a sense of doom, darkness and context. The students then utilised these ideas to generate their own interpretations of the gothic.
